Windows-independant PrinterSelection

As well as you've been able to select print-quality independantly from Windows' settings, you're now (from version 5.63) able to select which printer to be used in CoverSetup independantly from Windows' default settings.

In CoverSetup's toolbox you can select which printer to be used in CoverSetup. And CoverSetup remembers the selection until next run.

The benefit is that you can - without modifying the default-printer setting - have CoverSetup print using one printer, while at the same time having Windows set for another default printer. So; you don't have to alter the default-printer setting in Windows before printing. And you don't have to remember setting the settings back afterwards either...

Besides this practical use of the new feature, there are some other opportunities concerning the individual selection, which can make special whishes for print-jobs from CoverSetup more easily obtained.

There's a line of printer-drivers which can make more than the ordinary print-jobs available. For instance:

Making PDF-files
-
by using Adobe Acrobat PDF-writer, you can make the well-known PDF-files. And they keep the correct dimensions, and are based on a free program (a PDF-reader) by which viewing and printing the covers becomes available. This yields the opportunity of "printing" one's covers to a PDF-file and sending them to someone else, with no other presumptions for the receiver than having this free program available before being able to print the covers correctly.

So what does this mean? Well - as a registered user of CoverSetup - you can choose to "print" one or more covers using your PDF-writer, having the benefit of being able to send them to your friend(s), who'd then recognize and value your "work"; cause no cover-program will be neccessary should he/she wish to print the covers you've sent him/her! The benefit for you would be the respectable as well as professional look - or feel - you'd perform going around your biz this way!

Adobe Acrobat simply prints using it's own virtual printer, saving the result in a file which can be opened in a PDF-reader and viewed and/or printed from here - totally independantly from any cover-program what-so-ever (not even CoverSetup! ...unfortunately...:-)

PrintCaptures
Besides being able to print to a print-file - which can be done for all printers - there's a few smart PrintCapture programs available.

One of these is the socalled FinePrint program. FinePrint captures the print-job, and sets up a line of opportunities for the user, before continuing the print. You can have FrintPrint write water-marks or other text-labels accross the images, or you can scale and/or frame the entire print-session, for instance by having two pages scaled to fit on one page (landscape). Etc. etc.

FinePrint can be found at bn-iforlag.dk.

Fax-printer
By using a so-called fax-printer one's print-job can be sent over the phone as an ordinary fax, to any ordinary fax-receiver. Often the Covers are scewed though - i.e. no longer in the right format - and often they are converted into black and white, but the principle might be of interest for some-one out there!?
